The Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation and the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC), have released an Outcome Report that came from their joint workshop in December 2024. The workshop was titled Strengthening the UN’s Peacebuilding Architecture – Transforming commitments into action, and was held in preparation for the formal phase of the 2025 Peacebuilding Architecture Review (PBAR).

Key workshop recommendations from the focus on enhancing the Peacebuilding Commission’s (PBC) advisory role, particularly its advice to the UN Security Council; promoting coherence across the UN system; and the PBC’s engagements in mobilising sustainable financing and partnerships. The discussions emphasised the need to improve institutional capacity; proposed strategies for aligning peacebuilding efforts with national priorities; and explored ideas for fostering inclusive engagement. The workshop also highlighted the importance of synchronising PBAR outcomes with parallel UN processes in 2025. The findings aim to inform the formal phase of the PBAR and guide reforms to strengthen the UN’s peacebuilding impact.
