Global Catastrophic Risks 2026

This year’s Global Catastrophic Risks report looks at five of the biggest risks facing humanity today — climate change, biodiversity collapse, weapons of mass destruction, artificial intelligence (AI) in military decision-making and near Earth asteroids.

The report is written by some of the world’s leading minds in their respective fields, including Johan Rockström, Fatima Denton, Manjana Milkoreit, David Obura, Wilfred Wan, Denise Garcia and Romana Kofler.

Each of the authors also explore what can and should be done to mitigate these risks. They all agree on one point: we need improved global governance to secure our future.
