SIPRI has released a new research policy brief outlining the nature of multidomain escalation risk in the current strategic context.

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) has released a new research policy paper on multidomain escalation risks. The paper is authored by Wilfred Wan, the Director of the SIPRI Weapons of Mass Destruction Programme and was supported by GCF. Below you can read a short summary of the paper and follow the link to read the whole paper.

Contemporary warfare is characterized by military operations that encompass multiple arenas—from air, land and sea to the increasingly prominent cyber, outer space and information domains—and feature the convergence of advanced technological capabilities. New vectors of vulnerability stemming from this and from increasing interactions between nuclear and non-nuclear capabilities raise the spectre of escalation and introduce new potential pathways for nuclear weapon use.
