In Brazil in January, the organisation Plataforma CIPÓ* hosted a global meeting for stakeholders to discuss innovative solutions for addressing the intersection between climate change, biodiversity, nature loss, pollution and much more.

The conference was part a series of meetings that spans over several years, under the name Global Policy Dialogue, enacted to procure a mode by which meaningful multi stakeholder dialogue can take place on a variety of issues, leading up to the 2024 Summit of the Future.
The Global Policy Dialogue convenes among others the Global Governance Innovation Network, The Stimson Center, Platforma CIPÓ, the Foundation for European Progressive Studies and Global Challenges Foundation.
* Plataforma CIPÓ is an independent, women-led policy institute focusing on climate, governance, and peacebuilding in Latin America and the Caribbean and, more generally, the Global South.
The word “cipó” means “vine” (the woody, flexible stems that cling to trees) in the indigenous Tupi language and in Brazilian Portuguese. The word connotes three ideas that are central to CIPÓ: practical solutions (cipós are used to make baskets, sieves, and agricultural implements); bridging (because cipós link up trees); and action, since these plants are used by animals and insects to move across the forest.
