Stockholm Act sustainable development festival

August 24, 2017

On 24 August the Global Challenges Foundation hosted the event “Should the UN Security Council deal with climate change?” in collaboration with the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute at the Stockholm Act sustainable development festival.

Carin Ism, General Manager of the Global Challenges Foundation, provided an introduction to the panel and to the topic of governing global catastrophic risks.

The panel, consisting of Sweden’s climate change ambassador and resilience and security policy researchers, discussed if climate change would be better counteracted if it was treated as a security issue accompanying other problems dealt by the United Nations’ Security Council.See SIPRI’s recent comment on the issues discussed at the event.
