Rules and conditions for the How is it governed competition
The How is it Governed- series of quizzes take on the task of explaining the world in an educational and entertaining way. It makes global institutions and existential risks approachable for students, teachers, and the general public.
Now the Global Challenges Foundation gives you the opportunity to teach others about governance, and to present your ideas for an exclusive audience of opinion shapers, decision makers and innovative thinkers.
How to participate
You participate by sending the Global Challenges Foundation (from here on the GCF) a quiz regarding a global catastrophic risk, a global challenge, or a global political organisation. This must be done no later than 16 April.
How the winner is appointed and prizes
A jury, consisting of the GCF’s editorial council, selects a winner, who wins a ticket to the New Shape Forum (from here on the NSF) in October 2021. If a physical forum is held, the winner’s travel to Stockholm, lodgings and upkeep subsistence expenses will be paid for by the GCF. The winner needs to procure a visa for entering the EU/EEA Schengen Area (if needed), travel documents and travel insurance for attending a possible New Shape Forum event in Stockholm, Sweden.
The winner will be announced on 17 May by a declaration on the GCF’s website.
The winner’s quiz will be showcased on the GCF’s website, and the winner will be able to address the audience at the NSF regarding their winning submission.
The winner is chosen based on motivation, factual content, and innovativeness, and contacted via email after the competition has ended on 17 May. The winner then undertakes to collect the prize, by connecting to the video conference or by journeying to Stockholm.
The prize cannot be exchanged for cash.
Any profit tax is paid by the winners.
All rights of the winning quiz transfer to the GCF.
Use of personal data
By participating in the competition, consent is given to the registration of names and necessary contact information.
The information you provide in connection with the competition will be available exclusively to GCF as responsible for the competition. Contact information will only be used for contact in connection with the competition and will be deleted when the competition is over.
All submissions will be anonymized before being sent to the jury’s assessment.
All personal data provided is handled in accordance with the GDPR.
GCF is not responsible for any printing errors.
In case of suspicion of cheating, GCF has the right to exclude participants.
GCF employees, members of the GCF board, and of the jury are not allowed to participate in the competition.
Submissions must be sent as PDF-files to e-mail info(at)globalchallenges.org with the heading "Submission: How is it governed 2021". Failure to submit in this format will result in disqualification.
GCF reserves the right to adjust the terms and conditions of the competition if necessary.
