Humanity is dealing with new, major global problems. The Global Challenges Foundation as a result works to raise awareness of the greatest threats. These include for example climate change, environmental degradation, and political violence, in brief the global catastrophic risks. And in addition, the threats link to poverty and global population growth.
At any rate, these global problems appear insurmountable without an international body with a decision making mandate. The foundation, therefore, works to identify possible solutions. How can we further improve and renew the United Nations and ideas for global governance?
The world’s current institutions have difficulties meeting the challenges from global catastrophic risks, since they are not apt for them. The foundation evaluates global decision-making models capable of more effectively and equitably mitigating. Eliminating thus the major global catastrophic risks threatening humanity.
The introduction video introduces the founder Laszlo Szombatfalvy and his work, the mission, its key areas, as well as the members of the foundation’s board. It explains the Global Challenges Foundation’s view of risk.
The Foundation’s work is led by the board, which is aided by a number of senior advisors. The foundation has a secretariat as well, headed by Managing Director Jens Orback.
Apart from its own projects and publications, the Global Challenges Foundations also supports a number of independent initiatives that are aligned with the goals of the Foundation.
