The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, in collaboration with the Stimson Center and the Global Challenges Foundation, would like to warmly invite you to take part in the webcast Round Table on Governance for Climate Action on the 11th December.

As global efforts are focused on recovering from the fallout of COVID-19, of equal concern has been how to make the recovery process greener in line with the Paris Agreement and the 2030 SDGs. A number of governments have begun to put in place such efforts and more have made ambitious pledges toward net-zero goals. There are also prospects of new leadership and novel leadership coalitions in different parts of our world. However, the fact remains that we are very behind in our schedule to achieve Paris Agreement goals—much more needs to be done.

This Roundtable will focus on the governance gap we face and will explore possibilities for the scaling of climate action towards COP26 and beyond. The role of Korea as the host of the next P4G Summit will be highlighted, reflecting on how to gather yet more political will over the coming year. Financing for innovative climate action will be another important agenda item to explore, as we seek to close the already wide gap between our goals and the current reality.

The event will be webcast between 15.00 pm – 18.10 pm (KST)
