In November 2016, GCF announced the creation of the New Shape Prize, seeking improved models of international cooperation capable of tackling the most pressing threats to humanity. Over 14,000 applicants from 187 countries answered the call, and through the Prize, GCF has also hosted and supported events in collaboration with established partners, such as Brookings Institution in Washington DC, Chatham House in London, TERI in New Delhi, Tsinghua University in Beijing, the Getúlio Vargas Foundation in Sao Paolo, and SAIIA in Johannesburg, to discuss better global governance of catastrophic risks.
