August, 2019 – The Global Challenges Foundation (GCF) and the United Nations Association - UK (UNA-UK) announce they have entered into partnership, initially until December 2020.

GCF will provide funding for UNA-UK to lead a programme of work under the banner of the joint civil-society campaign: Together First (TF). GCF will also be part of the governance structure of the project.

This partnership will include support from GCF to implement Together First’s global consultations, associated activities and the development of an innovative web-portal to host the outcomes and serve as an advocacy platform uniting stakeholders internationally.

In addition to this core funding, GCF intends to provide additional supplementary funding, to enhance Together First’s programme of work in specific areas.

UNA-UK provides the secretariat for Together First, a campaign formed from a coalition of over 150 NGOs, launched at the Paris Peace Forum alongside the Stimson Center, the Igarapé Institute, and the Chinese Initiative on International Law.

Together First is a rapidly growing network of global citizens, civil society organisations, practitioners, parliamentarians, business leaders and activists from all regions of the world committed to fair, open and inclusive solutions to improve global governance.

Throughout 2019 and 2020 Together First is leading a global campaign to:

  • Identify workable ways to address global risks through broad-based global consultations
  • Produce a ‘to-do’ list for the international community by prioritising the leading ideas
  • Mobilise a diverse network to make these solutions a reality

GCF promotes the development of decision systems that can better and more accurately minimize, and preferably eliminate, the major global threats to humanity.

Founded in 1945, the United Nations Association – UK (UNA-UK) is the UK’s foremost advocate for UK action at the UN; the UK's leading source of analysis on the UN; and a vibrant grassroots movement of 20,000 people from all walks of life.
