The Global Challenges Foundation participated (through Head of Research Magnus Jiborn) at the Doha Forum 2019. A large number of political leaders and business leaders from all over the world participate.
The Global Challenges Foundation participates in a roundtable on “global governance innovation”. Among some 30 invited participants were former Secretary-General. Ban Ki-moon, UN Under-Secretary-General Fabrizio Hochschild Drummond, as well as a number of ambassadors and senior officials from various UN agencies.
Magnus Jiborn presented the idea that we should also see the climate crisis as an opportunity to push for more comprehensive reforms of the global institutions. Other attendees agreed that the sense of distress that the climate crisis is increasingly generating can make it easier to gain legitimacy for necessary reforms, and that the complexity of the issue means that solutions to the climate crisis must also bring solutions to other global risks and challenges.
